Joseph Stalin and Totalitarianism

Totalitarianism is the concept in where a person controls every aspect
of someones lives. Joseph Stalin controlled most Russia with
Totalitarianism and used it for the longest time. The Five Year Plan
was a plan to bring Russia up to date with the rest of the countries. The great purges when he started to execute anyone who threatened his rule.Joseph Stalin was just a dictator like Adolf Hitler only he dint start another world war. so in conclusion if you give total power and trust to one person he will betray you.

Film Lesson: Doctor Zhivago

In the movie Doctor Zhivago the Russian Revolution took place. the
communistwanted to change the way the Russians lived so it would be a Communist
country. They got rid of the Czars.Then Changed their Economy and the
way they lived. The Revolution happened because the Russians were tired
of beingcontrolled and didn't want any thing to do with the czar. the
film depicted Communism as a controlling government the just barged in
to other peoples houses. when Zhivago returned the Communist were in
his house and taking his stuff according to them there was room for 30
families in His house so the decided to share.

the causes of WWI

WWI started all because of one crazy extremist that killed Franz Fredinad.and
because he was Siberian Austria-Hungary declared war on Siberia. so
Russia helped up Siberia and then Germany started to help Hungary.
France and England also joined to help Serbia. They all hadmilitary power.And it was called the great war until WWII.eventually Serbia and allied counties won.

The Opium Wars happend between England and China. Opium, a drug that is illegal in England. English sold it/traded it to the Chinese even thoug it was ilegal. The Emperor tried to stop England from trading Opium to people, because it was damaging China's economy. not to mention its people. Chinese people were getting addicted to Opium. the empror tirid to stop the by using force and hhe failed badly. england continued to sell opium.

It was called the scramble because many countries tried conquer Africa at the same time split it into different countries. European countries controlled alot of Africa were they imposed their laws. European ways and also separating friendly tribes and united enemy tribes.Countries who controled Africa included Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France.These countries were able to conquer Africa so easily because they had guns.

The main advantage the Europeans had against the Africans was guns. Africans had spears which were nothin compared to the guns of the europeans.

He arrived in ports with sails down to intimidate japan with technology.Perry wanted a trade between the united States and japan because he thought that japan was the ideal location to stablish a trade in which Americans ships could reload on food, coal and water. march 31, 1854 a treaty was signed between the United States and japan. This trade openned two ports which connected the U.S with Japan. During the Meiji era the Japanese economic changed. They were trying to modernize and industrialize.

Marx died in 1883, but his ideas satyed. the new communist rulers didnt ues his ideas. he believed that workers would control government the rulers did not let that happen. In most Communist nations, the press was censored. They were not allowed to print news stories that criticized the government.

After the French revolution change into democracy didn't happen right away.It did happen but first came the The Reign of Terror.

In this time the radical group Jacobin took control of France and started cutting of the heads of everybody who was connected to the old regime. Even if you were accused you could have your head cut off.

Then there was a huge power struggle and Maximilien Robespierre took control. He tried to wipe out the revolutionists.Then the people got pissed of at Maximilien Robespierre and arrested him and cut his head off. Then France settled down with democracy.

There were many causes of The French Revolution. The biggest cause was the enlightenment thinkers who caused the third estate to think differently. the first estate was the clergy which owned most of the land and paid some of the taxes.the second class the nobles had a lot of land and paid no taxes.the third estate the presents had the most population but paid the highest taxes.
the presents saw what the enlightenment thinkers were doing and decided to do the same. seeing how unfair it was the peasants formed a group and took over the Bastille. and from there the french revolution took place.
