"The White Man's Burden"

The Poem "The White Man's Burden" meant that the white people were doing them a favor by conquering them and teaching them to be more civilized. We are still living in the White Man's Burden today because of Bush and American Government. Most countries like America try to to control other countries because they want to "improve them". he might have altirior motive he might not but he is spreading the american belifs in iraq.

"The Scramble for Africa"





The Scramble for Africa was when European countries were trying to conquer Africa. It was called the scramble because many countries tried conquer Africa at the same time split it into different countries. European countries controlled alot of Africa were they imposed their laws. European ways and also separating friendly tribes and united enemy tribes.Countries who controled Africa included Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France.These countries were able to conquer Africa so easily because they had guns.

The movie "Mountains of the Moon" was a true story of two explorers,who wanted to find the source of the Nile River. They faced hardships on their journey such as hot deserts and hostile tribes. its starnage how the lake is named after a britan queen wile the lake is din africa. The main advantage the Europeans had against the Africans was guns. Africans had spears which were nothin compared to the guns of the europeans.

The Meiji Restoration of Japan

Matthew Perry had the japanese sign a trade treat. He arrived in ports with sails down to intimidate japan with technology.Perry wanted a trade between the united States and japan because he thought that japan was the ideal location to stablish a trade in which Americans ships could reload on food, coal and water. march 31, 1854 a treaty was signed between the United States and japan. This trade openned two ports which connected the U.S with Japan. During the Meiji era the Japanese economic changed. They were trying to modernize and industrialize.
